For Aubrey Jones
I’ve never sent out two blog posts in one day. Hellz, I’m usually lucky to get ONE post out! But today I have to do something, because right now I’m sitting on my butt wishing I could do something more to help out a friend of mine. And all I have to offer, besides my heart and all my love, is words. So I’m going to share my words and hope they make a difference to even one person. More than that, though, I hope they make a difference to a HUGE amount of people. Because that would be awesome. And? Totally make me feel like the human population has some redemption.
From Andi-Roo, to you, with regard to a matter of the heart:
Please keep my dear friend, neighbor, & previous coworker (From Cheer America/AAYA) in your thoughts. While attending an event out of state, one of her three girls came down with some kind of strep-induced bacterial infection which caused her to spike a fever of 105, & which was pushing on her neck making it difficult to breathe. The infection went down into her chest & her belly became quite swollen.
Aubrey has been receiving blood, as her body has gone into septic shock, and her lungs are filled with liquid. She’s been paralyzed so her organs can heal, as they are close to shutting down. Her veins are leaking fluid (hence the need for blood) because her body is so full of toxins. This tiny toddler now weighs 75 pounds (to put this into perspective, my 7-year-old doesn’t even weigh 45 pounds!). Her body is shutting down, & she has stopped breathing at least once.
The hospital (http://iuhealth.org/riley/), located in Indiana, will not send 3-yr-old Aubrey home to Ohio where they live less than ten minutes right up the road from me (the street upon which I reside literally dead-ends into their front yard!). , so the family is in financial need on top of emotional strength.
Lindsey has two other children, a newborn she is struggling to nurse as there are no children allowed in the ICU, and a gorgeous 7-yr-old who is friends with my daughter. Lindsey & her husband Jon have been bouncing back & forth between the hospital & a nearby hotel; they’ve attempted Ronald McDonald House but apparently that particular branch will not allow siblings.
Several of the students Lindsey coaches are meeting tonight to go door-to-door asking for donations. If you are anywhere near this area, please consider giving your time to this effort. Meet-up is at 6:00 p.m. At Rona Baquet Hall, 1043 Rona Parkway Drive, in Fairborn, Ohio.
In addition to this, there are currently two bank accounts set up at which monetary gifts may be given:
1. The account at Fifth Third Bank is in the name of Lindsey Warner-Jones, and you must indicate the the account was set up in Fairborn, Ohio.
NOTE: YOU CAN NOT MENTION THIS IS A DONATION, OR THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THE FUNDS. YOU MUST MERELY MAKE A DEPOSIT.
2. The account at US Bank is in the name of Sara Wolfe, and you will need to contact me for account information.
NOTE: YOU CAN NOT MENTION THIS IS A DONATION, OR THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THE FUNDS. YOU MUST MERELY MAKE A DEPOSIT.
3. Donate online to a funding campaign set up by a cousin of the family: http://www.indiegogo.com/aubreyssick?c=home
If you cannot give money, please give your time. If you cannot give time, please give the gift of words and let Lindsey know her daughter is in your thoughts. Stop by her FB page and leave a loving message. I wasn’t raised with a church background, so I don’t know how to pray, but I did sit out on my back porch crying, and begged in my mind as loudly as I could for Aubrey to heal and come home. If this is what you consider prayer, I ask you do the same. And if it isn’t what you consider prayer, that’s fine too. Please take a moment to do it anyway.
I love you, Lindsey and Jon. I love you, Kaydynce and Kennedy. And right now, I LOVE-LOVE-LOVE you as hard as possible, Aubrey. (((hugs)))
[…] Please continue to keep my dear friend, neighbor, & previous coworker Lindsey Warner-Jones in your thoughts. While attending an event out of state, one of her three girls came down with some kind of strep-induced bacterial infection which has kept her hospitalized far from home. The family is unable to afford the care flight which would carry her from Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis to Dayton Children’s Hospital in Ohio, so for now they are stuck bouncing back and forth between a hotel and the hospital.
