Not Ready to Make Nice

Have I told you lately how much I adore your words? I also adore Ms Maines... This album came out right before I found out I was having my first child, and I still weep every damn time I hear this song.... (Oh, and I actually BOUGHT the CD so that I could hear it as often as possible and still, seven years later, it moves me to tears.) I admire her ability to tell the world to fuck off if they do not like what she has to say.

I vowed to never allow my daughter or my son to feel that they have the right to hate someone with no reason (hate is such a powerful emotion that they need more than a few words to feel this way) and to always remember to stand up for themselves and their own words.

 I am ashamed of the people in my life who feel it is OK to hate someone arbitrarily for simply having the ability to think for themselves or to think at all. I find myself daily biting my own tongue when I see posts from loved ones about what a tyrant our current president is, bitch about helping people who have less than livable income and yet, they still insist that our nation is a "Christian" one meant to represent Jesus and his followings....

  Shut up and listen is what a great majority of Christians should be doing, not teaching hate, violence and ignorance.... 

  On a different page, Natalie is a hero in the truest sense of the word. The efforts that she, Johnny Depp and Eddie Vedder went through to free three young men from a gross injustice created by this same hatred and ignorance by good "Christian followers" sitting in judgment on these men over one wearing "Satan worshipping paraphernalia" creating a panic in the hearts and minds of supposed "people loving Christians." To be honest, Natalie Maines is not only a true patriot, she is an angel, from her voice to her motives....
